How early do I need to put items at the curb?

Same day. Chicago has rules - items can't sit on the curb or in the alley for days waiting for pickup without a city bulk-pickup permit. Put items out the morning of (or the evening before if pickup is early-morning). We coordinate timing with you when we book so you don't have a sofa sitting on the sidewalk for a week.

Can I leave items in the alley instead of at the curb?

Yes - alley pickup is often easier than curb pickup in Chicago. Alleys are wider for our truck, less obstructed by parked cars, and don't draw the same sanitation attention. Tell us at booking that items will be in the alley.

Will the city ticket me if items wait at the curb too long?

Possibly. Chicago Streets & Sanitation can cite property owners for "illegal dumping" or "unsightly" items left on the public way without a scheduled pickup. Same-day pickup with us avoids this risk.

Should I cancel if rain is in the forecast?

Depends on the item. Mattresses and upholstered furniture lose donation eligibility once they get wet - consider moving inside, covering with a tarp, or moving the appointment. Appliances, metal, plastic, electronics in sealed packaging - fine in rain.
