Common Questions About This Service

Do I need to disconnect appliances before pickup?

We prefer it, but we can disconnect on site. Refrigerators: unplug, empty, ideally defrost overnight. Washers: turn off water at the shutoff, disconnect hoses, run a spin cycle to drain. Dryers: unplug and disconnect from gas valve if gas-powered. If you can't disconnect, the crew handles it - adds 10–20 minutes per appliance.

Do you take refrigerators and freezers with refrigerant?

Yes. Refrigerators, freezers, wine fridges, mini fridges, dehumidifiers, and window AC units all contain refrigerant that must be recovered by a certified facility before scrap - that's federal EPA rule. There's a $30 refrigerant surcharge on top of the appliance price.

Are appliances recycled or just scrapped?

The metal in most appliances gets recycled. Refrigerants are recovered before scrap. Working appliances under 5 years old in good condition get evaluated for donation - Habitat for Humanity ReStore and similar partners accept some appliances. Older or non-functional units go to scrap recycling.

Can you remove appliances from my basement or 2nd floor?

Yes - basement carry-up is included in the base price. Walk-ups above the 2nd floor add $15 per flight. The crew brings appliance dollies, straps, and stair belts.
